Questions for Archbishop Nelson Perez – Part Two

Please see our blog post from January 18,2026 with very important questions for Archbishop Perez. His secretary, Donna Huddell, confirmed receiving the email with the blog post.https://catholics4change.com/2026/01/18/questions-for-archbishop-nelson-perez/

The following are additional questions:

Why do you allow Msgr. George Majoros to house priests who have been charged with crimes at the Sacred Heart Parish rectory?

When some members of the clergy in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are living a lifestyle that is far above the means that a priest’s salary would allow, what type of oversight is provided by the Vicar for Clergy to determine that the money funding the lavish lifestyle has been obtained ethically?

Senator George Mitchell ,who has been named in the Epstein, files was chair of the Oversight Committee of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Independent Reconciliation and Reparations Program before his departure in 2019. Did he have any interaction/communication with clergy abuse victims who were accessing the IRRP program? Also are you aware that the final report of the evaluation of the child protection report did not include recommendations from the committee? This differs greatly from evaluations in other dioceses. Did Senator Mitchell have any contact with the Oversight Committee after being named in the Epstein Files in 2019?

Why have you not released Lynn Shiner’s report of the evaluation of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Victim Assistance Program? Why has her report not been made public? Is it because her recommendations have not been implemented?

Why has Fr Paul Stenson once again been removed from the Archdiocese clergy list? Removal from the clergy list signals that a priest’s faculties have been restricted and they cannot present as a priest. He terms his leave as a health leave in his goodbye to the parish. https://church-bulletin.org/092/2025-06-15.pdf

Has Msgr Joseph McLoone been officially laicized?

Why has Robert Spinelli Esq been the chair of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Review Board since 2012? *Most U.S. dioceses have a person stay in that position only short term with two years being the average.

Why is former Archdiocese Delegate of Investigations, Albert Toczydowlowski, a member of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Review Board? If a former case that he investigated prior is reopened for any reason, isn’t that a conflict of interest?

Does Fr Zachary Navit have ownership or receive any income from the travel company that he promotes for his pilgrimages? Also, why is he allowed to use his assignment location, St Mary Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, as a venue to hold promotional parties for the travel company? Why is Fr Navit so frequently away from the diocese on trips in the midst of a priest shortage when some priests are assigned to multiple parishes and assignments.

In 2021, parishioners at St Joseph Parish in Downingtown were told that Fr Alex Pancoast was taking an immediate indefinite leave. He refers to his absence over the past prior months in his goodbye note to the parish in January 2022.https://files.ecatholic.com/30692/bulletins/20220116.pdf?t=1642603857000 The official clergy assignments do not reflect his leave of absence. He is simply listed as leaving St Joe’s in a mid year reassignment to St Andrew’s . https://catholicphilly.com/2022/01/news/local-news/clergy-assignments-announced-2/ Why?

Why do you leave priests in ministry who have violated the Standards of Ministerial Behavior and Boundaries with no notification to their parish community?

Why does the Archdiocese phrase the sexual abuse of adults (over the age of 18) as a violation of the Standards? Rather than as sexual abuse?

Why is there no parental notification when a child has been the victim of a violation of the Standards?

Will you agree to reopen all of the sexual abuse allegation investigations since 2011 which were conducted in secret? Other dioceses release a diocesan wide statement asking all with relevant information to come forward. Secret investigations are not thorough investigations.

John Delaney, Delegate of Investigations, violated confidentiality by immediately contacting Communication Director Ken Gavin and giving Gavin the name of the person reporting and the names of the priests being reported. What consequences are there to Delaney?

Catholics4Change was instrumental in the Archdiocese adopting a retaliation policy which prohibits retaliation against any clergy, staff or volunteer who makes a good faith report of suspected child abuse. That policy needs to be updated to include suspected adult abuse, financial crimes , and violations of the Standards of the Ministerial Behavior and Boundaries.

What is the status of Fr Lawrence Kozak’s laicization?

All prospective seminarians undergo psychological evaluation prior to admission. In light of the numbers of priests in the 2010’s who were found unsuitable for ministry have their been any substantive changes to the psychological screening process to better assess long-term suitability for priestly ministry? Also are there any reoccurring periodic assessments of priests who were ordained in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s when assessments were not as current?

Villa St Joseph houses both retired priests in good standing and priests with credible sexual abuse allegations against them When the faithful contribute to priest retirement funds are any of those contributions used to support the sexual abusive priests at Villa St Joseph?

Why does the Archdiocese only list credibly accused diocesan priests on their website? Why are religious order priests, sister/women religious, lay employees, volunteers who served in the Archdiocese and were accused of sexual abuse not listed? Whether the accusation led to an arrest or was deemed credible and they were removed from their position.

Why has the Archdiocese of Philadelphia not implemented former Review Board Chair, Ana Catanzaro’s recommendations from 2011?

The Trust and Hope campaign is trying to recruit youth to the Archdiocese but is a 23 year old missionary disciple employee making duck lips in the Archdiocese photo, with misspellings in her bio, really what you want to be presenting? While trying to raise one billion dollars from wealthy donors? The uninformed youth who are oblivious to the crimes of the Archdiocese are definitely your potential customer base.

Why did the Trust and Hope team present a fundraising survey to the laity as a planning survey?

Why does the Archdiocese not provide yearly statistics of credible/non credible allegations of sexual abuse. Please provide this info starting in 2011 to present.

As always: The Archdiocese continues to endanger children and laity
