As a victim of child sex abuse, Brian Kent naturally gained the trust of other survivors, becoming a go-to lawyer for their personal injury cases. The former Montgomery County, PA prosecutor served on the Board of Child USA, a think tank combatting child abuse, and received the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s civilian leadership award.
His personal and professional background makes recent allegations all the more shocking. A leaked confidential complaint filed with the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in November of 2022 accuses Kent of engaging in a sexual relationship with a client. This behavior violates the rules of professional conduct for PA lawyers and is especially egregious given his client’s vulnerability as a victim of sexual abuse.

In the aftermath of the revelation, Kent has parted ways with the law firm he cofounded – Laffey, Bucci, and Kent- and resigned from Child USA’s board. Founder Marci Hamilton called for a criminal investigation in a statement on Friday, April 26th. “There appears to be a pattern of manipulative and abusive behavior by Kent toward vulnerable clients nationwide seeking to find validation and justice in the legal system,” she stated.

When the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced a compensation program for those of us who were abused sexually by diocesan priests as children, I contacted the Kent firm to represent me.They turned me down.I was disappointed.So I filed the necessary paperwork on my own. Subsequently I was awarded one hundred thousand dollars by the law firm representing the diocese.Recently I found out that the diocese had published a list of credibly accused deceased priests. The name of my abuser was not on the list. WHY
Fantastic job ti Represent Yourself. Im not surprised in your ability to do so, as I too was rather “quick to discover” once I had receipt of the pointed page webbed questionnaire, quick to feel.. I too could have represented my own-self. Due fact, questions are as-if one is approached to-a presumed court or judge or jury. Once CSA molest occurs, repeat-pattern as your-facts are so imbedded into one’s soul (how dare they abuse) thus, representation of oneself is tasking sure, quite the ease to find “as accomplished.” Yet still that entangled-web akin to spiders own webbing – it is not to CSAbused. Thus, little need for Legal Guard to represent YOUR FACTS as they’re so deeply imbedded yet, as if all as separate from all-else in ones life & soul.. indeed GREAT On You Sir yes! Please feel pride to have done so • yourself! They give Accomplishment Awards & I feel YOU as deserving of that LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT award.

I did connect with Bishop Accountability and they asked for more documentation. I was tired of all the paperwork and had just lost my wife of forty five years. I also felt that the Catholic Church already had documentation on my abuser. I don’t think they would have offered a settlement if I was the only victim to report abuse. I believe that others were abused by the same priest.Father Daniel Doyle,my abuser died in 1988 or 1989 so he was still not out there abusing kids. I have always wondered whether William Lynn who was two years behind me in grade school at St John of the Cross in Roslyn could have been abused by the same priest.

State of PA AG’s Office has a CHILD VICTIMS UNIT. I rcv’d a cold-call in 2011 from Mr. S. McCormack an (asst DA). He worked Child Victim Unit. He advised me what I feared (at that point) 28 years “Was there an Other(s)?” indeed there were 3 of us SAME Predator. In 1994, I had reported my Predator to H’burg Diocese and Diocese had NEVER ACTED & my Predator-priest Indeed victimized (least) 1 adtl. boy after I. (I cried on phone) w. S. McCormack. Had the H’burg Diocese ACTED from 1990-2011, there had not been an Other poor-kid raped! You Please call that number and ask them in State of PA. Child Victim Unit.
