Fr David Buffum left active ministry in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in September 2023. Weeks ago, Catholics4Change provided the Archdiocese with disturbing information concerning a double life that Buffum seemed to lead using an altar- ego name online in the years 2020-2023 while in active ministry. We also provided the obscene and demented podcast series allegedly hosted by Buffum that was uploaded to the internet in 2020. We did the work that the Archdiocese is incapable or unwilling to do.
Buffum is now a writer of erotic horror. The actual scary story is that they are still using his video to recruit young men to the seminary.

Update: Two hours after we posted the link the Archdiocese finally removed it from their website. It took them sixteen months after he left active ministry and two weeks after we alerted the Archdiocese to his online alter ego. Update: As of 7A.M Wednesday January 28,2025 Buffum’s video was still being used to recruit seminarians It was finally taken down at 8a.m. after we posted yet again on our Facebook page.
Laity is asking us why the Archdiocese would ever have left his vocation video current on their sites. The only answers are they either did not find his perverted online presence disturbing, or they simply don’t care what laity thinks. My bet is a combination of both.

I reject the term “recruit.” The “recruitment” of seminarians is, in reality, grooming. Vulnerable, immature, confused, alienated, and broken young men are provided trips, gifts, money, transportation, meals out, love, social integration, intimacy, skewed guidance and counseling, and more…
It’s a grooming racket.
